Another face of Coco


A year after the first Chanel movie with Aurdey Toutou, Anna Mouglalls plays Gabrielle in a whole different way and area. This movie is more about her lovelife and her passionate love affair with the Russian Igor Stravinsky. She's married with the filthy rich Boy Capel, but she's totally in love with Stravinsky. Of course also in this film it's amazing to look at the clothing and surroundings, Karl Lagerfeld himself made a fantastic new dress in the original vision of Madame Coco Chanel herself.


Stop and Dance


This video is created by Diesel's Creative Team is collaboration with Anomaly and the French art-director Arno Salters. Thanks to the special stop-motion-technique, the musiclovers and the clothing can change every second, while their choreography and the music are still rolling. Back to the Future


'The first pictures of Amsterdam 1845-1875' is the new exhibition of The Stadsarchief Amsterdam. This exhibition is the result of many years of research of Amsterdam photos in the late 19th century, this is the first time that the 'new medium' photography and topography were linked to each other in this way.


Nowhere is Rock 'n Roll


One of the biggest bands of last decennium was by far The Beatles, now the famed director Sam Taylor-Wood made a movie out of the story behind this famous band, Nowhere Boy. It's the autobiographic story about John Lennon, about love, family, music and friendship. He tries to escape from the secrets of his family and finally he finds his way in rock 'n roll.

In Bed With McQueen


The dead are stil alive, especially when they were genius and worldbreaking talented. In June Alexander McQueen (aka Gareth Pugh) will release an underwear and sleepwear collection for men. Signature design details include stulls on the waistband of boxers and allover prints of feathers, X-rays and bones. Which he also used extensively in his last men's runway collection in milan last January.

MGMTwo


A second album is always hard, especially when your first album called Oracular Spectacular and sold over a million copies worldwide. But MGMT managed the pressure and belivered another wicked album full of crazy, psychedelic, funny and weird tones and good lyrics. This Sunday they give an intimate and secret concert in Melkweg, where they will play their new album Congratulations.

D&G made longevity into legend

In the new issue of VMan Dolce&Gabbana were celebrated because of their milestone 20th anniversary. Because of that they mixed and matched al the clothes of their previous collections together into one phenomenal shoot. Since 1990 the designer duo made the men muscular and wild again, with their rough and forceful clothing.

Viktor & Job


The Dutch-Belgian design studio, studio Job, had a new collaboration with Viktor & Rolf, together they developed the new scenography for the Dutch fashion house. The catwalk and backdrops of their autumn/winter 10/11 collection called 'Glamour
Factory' was totally wrapped in a theatrical and 3-Dform titled 'Industy'. It is cool to see how naturally this architectural scene was absorbed by the glamour of the fashion industry.

Hoerengracht


The Hoerengracht is a gigantic piece of art made by the unknown artists and lovers Edward Kienholz and Nancy Redding Kienholz. The Amsterdam Historic Museum shows in their exhibition these artists for the very first time in the Netherlands. They were inspired by the Red Light District and made the Hoerengracht as their artistic answer.


Old Brand New


Eduard Planting Fine Arts Photographs is a gallery in the Jordaan. Now there is a beautiful exhibition of the Ney Yorker Jefferson Hayman. A photographer who uses antique frames for his pictures. Maybe his photos look older than the frames, but in reality they're brand new. But with several proceedings they look like they are made almost 100 years ago.

Back to the Niketies


Way Perry, the fashion editor of WONDERLAND, did it again. With customized clothes he made a fantastic twelve-page spread about the jazzy fifties and their rhythm nation. The most spectacular piece of all are the platform trainers by Nike. These customized sneakers are almost 15 centimeters high, so after all the girls now it's time for boys to get higher.

I See Michael Wolf


In the Dutch photographic museum FOAM, the American photographer Michael Wolf shows his point of view about the urban way of living. His pictures are about privacy and voyeurism in the cultural identity of Paris. He uses Google Street View-technology to analyze the idea of representation and symbolization. In this way he says that he can read the streets of Paris in a whole new way.

Red queen in Wonderland



Fantastic director Tim Burton made a whole new movie out of the old fantasy story of Alice in Wonderland. It's the first family movie totally made for 3D, of course the hottest actor of the moment, Johnny Depp, is in it as the Mad Hatter. But the best character of the movie is by far Iracebeth, The Red Queen. All costumes are designed by the wonderful Colleen Atwood.

Golden boobs


The 22nd POP gives us a little Allen Jones book, the artist himself shows us all his great work. His Golden Body, made in 1977, is his idea of a young girl from the North wanting to become a model. And it seems that today's great designers took his artwork as inspiration for their 2010 collections. Boobs will become the shoulders of 2011.

Smolders' seven sins



The Dutch Anne Smolders portrays the seven deadly sins, like lust, pride and envy in FRAME magazine. It's an awnser to Dutch supermarkets that urge customers to fill their carts for free toys. The creations are totally made out of magazines and newspaper.

Yvette Yunjang made this interesting alphabet out of women accessories, the A's, B's and C's are made out of shoes, jewellery and bags. She is one of the many designers and artist who join the group of www.nmyv.com, a fun site for lots of inspiration.

OOO..

The new online shop OOO Originals sells several new Dutch top designers. This brand new online concept has pieces out of the last collections of Mada van Gaans, Claes Iversen and Individuals. Next to clothing they also sell bags, footwear and accessories.

A new apple

In the old Appel boys school in de Pijp, the Appel museum shows their new collection. Next to paper art, they also have several futuristic elements, experimental photo's and rooms full with mind-maps. They took the large school and transformed it into a new and very cool, unconventional exhibition.

WAD transforms

This months WAD shows us a delicious mash-up with several other magazines. Not only did they recreate a new i-D, also Vogue, Wallpaper and Colors were taken to another level. Next to the cover they also copied the inside lay-out of the magazines.

Stars by The xx


The xx is a brand new band from London, who played last week in Paradiso. The dreamy and electric sound of this band is new and overwhelming. This minimal, sexy and elegant song is a musical sign of the times.

Lara in LOVE

Our very own and only real top model Lara Stone is total body naked in the third issue of one of the best new magazines of last year LOVE. On each cover is a different fashion icon, like Kate, Naomi and Daria.

Cool new block note by Lanvin, for their 120 year anniversary. The beautiful sketch on front is a design by Alber Elbaz.

First Spring



Prada presents 'First Spring', a short movie directed by Chinese artist Yang Fudong for the Prada Mens Spring/Summer 2010 advertising campaign. It's such a beautiful and inspiring movie, with fantastic features.
